Fifth Harmony announced via their twitter account that former member, Camila Cabello, informed the other members of the group through her representatives that she would leaving the group. The group also assured fans in the letter that they will continue on as a foursome. Cabello announced her departure on December 18th, the same day that her contractual obligations to the group ended.
Cabello started to explore solo endeavors in 2015 after being featured on pop-singer, Shawn Mendes song, “I Know What You Did Last Summer.” Most recently, Cabello is featured on rapper, Machine Gun Kelly’s song, “Bad Things.” Both were successful collaborations. I Know What You Did Last Summer became a Top 20 hit and Bad Things has reached the Top 10 on the Hot 100 chart.
Despite the group recently discussing their excitement for their upcoming third album. Rumors of tensions between Cabello and the other group members has been brewing for a while.
Fifth Harmony formed as a group on the America version of The X Factor in 2012. Since then group has garnered much success. Releasing two albums and charting two songs in the Top 20 (“Worth It”) and Top 10 charts (Work From Home f/Ty Dolla Sign).
So far Cabello nor her team has released a statement on her departure.
