Emmy Rossum, 30, is in the process of salary negotiations for the possible upcoming eighth season of Showtime’s hit, scripted dramedy, Shameless. Rossum has played Fiona Gallagher on the show for the past seven seasons. Rossum was reportedly offered equal pay to co-star, William H. Macy, who recently negotiated his contracts and received an “a-list” pay raise. However, Rossum not only wants equal pay to Macy, but she also wants the difference of her and Macy’s earnings for the past seven seasons. This could place her at earning more than Macy for the upcoming season of Shameless.
Showtime execs have reportedly never considered any plans to move forward with the show without Rossum, so a decision should be made soon in regards to her salary demands.
Rossum joins the ranks of numerous actresses and their supporters in Hollywood such as Patricia Arquette, Jennifer Lawrence, and Bradley Copper. All of whom have spoken out about equal pay rights for women.
If Shameless is renewed for an eighth season it will become Showtime’s longest running scripted series.
