Smith was arrested in Santa Clara County Jail and has now been released (Friday, August 7th) on a $26,000 bond. This is his third arrest dealing with drunk driving and it’s obvious his now former team is concerned about his incidents.
In a statement, the team said “This organization has tried very hard to help Aldon fight his issues. Although he is no longer a member of this team, our support and concern for him will continue.”
49ers Coach, Jim Tomsula called it a “sad day” but said that Smith won’t have to walk this path alone.
